The following are acceptable: - Notices from: schools; service clubs; charities; special ad-hoc organizations; churches; health and governmental agencies and not-for-profit organizations concerning: speakers, theatrical or musical events, auctions, flea markets, rummage sales, used book sales, dinners and suppers, fashion shows, and other similar events which may or may not be fund raising events. Church sponsored events must at least be nominally non-religious in nature.
- Notices about public meetings or events being held in the area, e.g. coin shows, bike rides, meetings on the environment, etc.
- Notices concerning bond and/or operating levies or “charter”/constitutional amendments being requested by schools and other political subdivisions; or various other non-partisan election issues. Notices may be either pro or con.
- Notices about: services, workshops, classes, etc. including all “12 step” programs being offered by governmental, health, cultural, educational, or other similar agencies and institutions.
- Notices about lost animals.
- Notices about meetings being held in a WCPL meeting room.
- Notices about vacation Bible schools or similar summer schools being offered by non-Christian religions (this is an exception to other rules concerning religious events.)
The following are not acceptable: - Advertisements for goods and services by for-profit companies or individuals.
- Notices about revival meetings, schedules of worship, and other events which are purely religious in nature (but excepting vacation Bible schools.)
- Personal notices.
- Political advertisements for candidates or political parties.
- Want ads.
Normally posters will not be put up more than 30 days before the “event” is scheduled. All posted notices shall be stamped “approved” and shall contain a take-down date as determined by responsible library employees.
