Title: Living Dead In Dallas
Author: Charlaine Harris
Genre: Supernatural Mystery
Review: Sookie Stackhouse is back! When Sookie and her vampire boyfriend Bill are sent to Dallas to investigate the disappearance of another vampire, the mystery and action abound. Add a few werewolves and shape-shifters, and you'll get one amazing read. This is the second book in the Sookie Stackhouse series that is the basis for the critically acclaimed HBO series "True Blood." If you are a fan of the Twilight series, this is a must, and trumps anything by Stephanie Meyer.

Title: After River

Review: This book was a surprise. It has lots of twist and turns that you don't see coming. It is a quick read and takes us all back to a time forgotten. Please try it I am sure you won't be disappointed.

Title: Home
Author: Marilynne Robinson
Genre: Fiction
Review: If you have not read Home by Marilynne Robinson.....I envy you. Having fallen in love with Gilead, I was very much looking forward to returning to the town via Home. Unfortunately, where Gilead is a reflection on life, Home is a ponderous brooding upon death: so much so that I began to feel as though the grim reaper was forcefully poking me in the eye with every page.
If you are looking for a sensative and balanced read please, please run in the opposite direction of this book (towards something else by the same author perhaps). If you are looking for a book to depress you utterly and suck away all joy from your soul, then read this one.

Title: Handle With Care
Author: Jodi Picoult
Genre: Fiction
Review: This was a pretty typical Jodi Picoult book. It reminded me a lot of "My Sister's Keeper". The main character is a woman who has a little girl with Osteogenesis Imperfecta who breaks bones very easily. The mother decides to sue her OB (who is also her best friend) for wrongful birth. She claims that the OB should have diagnosed OI earlier so the woman could have had an abortion. Although the woman states she would never have had an abortion and she loves her child. I found it very hard to relate to any of the characters in this book. The other child is a teen who suddenly (within a chapter) develops a host of problems including bullimia and cutting herself. I just found it all pretty unbelievable, especially the ending. I am not planning on reading any more books by this author. Her earlier books have been good but they seem to be going downhill now.

Review: What's not to love about an audiobook that includes a six minute Hamlet and a ten minute Macbeth Complete with impersonations of Mr. Rogers and Julia Child!
